About the project

Street Dance is a spontaneous music video project launched by Innomind.org in 2005 in Central Park NYC. Filmed around the world, random strangers are approached on the streets and asked to participate by dancing with other random strangers passing by.

The idea is for the dancers to entice and inspire the passerby people to come join the fun.

How it's done

The camera operator walks backwards while filming the dancers approaching the camera. The music comes from portable speakers mounted on his chest, so the dancers, the song and the camera move down the street together.

Nobody rehearses. Most episodes are filmed within minutes of meeting the people in them, often in a single take.
